A fire damaged a house at West Watooka Hill Top, Wismar, Linden, destroying a bedroom and its contents, along with the PVC ceiling, the Guyana Fire Service said.
In a statement, the service said it received a report of the fire at approximately 3.52 am on Saturday and dispatched a water tender and an all-terrain vehicle with their crews, under the command of Leading Fireman Reynolds.
Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the front door of the single-storey building. They extinguished the blaze and prevented it from spreading to other sections of the house, according to the statement.
The destroyed bedroom was on the eastern side of the building. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
