GEORGETOWN, Guyana, October 1, 2026, — Several classes saw clean sweeps in Sunday’s opening round of the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) National Championships at the South Dakota Circuit.

A premature end to the day denied a ‘three-peat’ for many competitors after an oil spill rendered the South Dakota Circuit unfit for further racing, despite one of the largest clean-up efforts to date.

Shan Seejatan swept both races in the Sports Tuner 1600cc class.

Seejatan won Race 1 ahead of Mohamed Saifudeen Roshandin and the Street Tuner 1500cc entry of Amjad Rahaman.

He returned to victory in Race 2 with a time of 9:48.264. Roshandin finished third overall and second in the Sports Tuner class, while Azaad Hassan retired.

The Street Tuner 1500cc class saw Amjad Rahaman take the Race 1 victory, with Jad Rahaman second and Ryan Ramoutar third.

Her Race 1 performance placed her third overall among the combined Rookie and Female field, while she finished fourth overall in Race 2. Tommi Gore swept the Local Group 4 2WD class, taking both victories.

Gore won Race 1 in 7:43.217, ahead of Andrew King and Rameez Mohamed. He returned to the top in Race 2 again ahead of King who finished second in both races, while Rameez Mohamed completed the Race 1 podium.
