The discussions on the sluice (City Council photo)

The Mayor of Georgetown and a team from City Hall last week engaged in discussions with representatives of the Pomeroon Oil Mill regarding the sustainable management and upkeep of the Kingston Sluice.

A release from the city said that the discussions focused on improving access to the sluice, addressing operational concerns, and identifying practical solutions for “effective maintenance and long-term functionality of this vital piece of infrastructure”.

A key area of discussion was the establishment of a permanent ingress and egress to the sluice area, which would provide more reliable access for maintenance, operations.

The release said that the initiative forms part of a broader collaborative effort involving the Mayor and City Council, the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority, Pomeroon Oil Mill, and the Alfonso Group, with all parties working towards practical and sustainable solutions for the continued management of the Kingston Sluice.
