Noble Drilling (Guyana) Inc. has applied for frequency authorisation to operate satellite communications equipment aboard the Noble Developer, according to a notice published in the Official Gazette.

The application, received by the Telecommunications Agency on September 14, 2026, seeks permission to install, operate and use radiocommunication equipment aboard the vessel.

The notice, published in the September 26 extraordinary edition, lists two Very Small Aperture Terminals (VSATs) aboard the Noble Developer, using 1.2 megahertz of spectrum in the Ku-band.

Persons who may be affected by the application have until November 11, 2026, to submit written comments to the Telecommunications Agency at 190 Charlotte Street, Bourda, Georgetown.

The application was made under Section 30 of the Telecommunications Act 2016. The notice does not identify the drilling location or programme for which the equipment would be used.

Noble’s rigs have been involved in exploration and development drilling offshore Guyana for several years. Stabroek News reported in July 2020 that the Noble Don Taylor had begun drilling the Redtail exploration well, northwest of Yellowtail-1, while the Noble Bob Douglas and Noble Tom Madden were drilling and completing development wells for the first two phases of the Liza project.

In April 2023, Stabroek News reported that the Noble Don Taylor drilled the Lancetfish-1 discovery in the Stabroek Block. The well encountered approximately 92 feet of oil-bearing sandstone and was drilled in 5,843 feet of water. At the time, it was one of six drillships engaged in ExxonMobil Guyana’s offshore exploration and appraisal activities.
