-Hampton Court guard charged with attempted murder

A gold miner charged with murder and a security guard accused of attempted murder were remanded to prison yesterday following appearances in separate courts.

Joshua James, 26, of 14 Miles, Arakaka Backdam, North West District, appeared via Zoom before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh at the Port Kaituma Magistrate’s Court.

He is accused of murdering Morvin George at 14 Miles, Arakaka, on September 29, 2026. According to police, James was arrested that day and charged on October 2.

He was not required to plead to the indictable charge and was remanded to prison.

In the other matter, Munesh Ramnarine, a 58-year-old security guard of Hampton Court, Essequibo Coast, appeared before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court.

Munesh Ramnarine

The attempted murder charge stems from an alleged incident at Hampton Court on October 1 involving a 59-year-old woman.

Ramnarine was not required to plead and was remanded to prison until November 17th. Police reports had said the woman had been set afire.
