A 44-year-old miner was yesterday remanded to prison after pleading not guilty to possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

Onai Nassy, of Norton Street, Lodge, Georgetown, appeared before Magistrate Tomika Clarke at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court.

According to police, Nassy was arrested on September 27 at Richmonville, Providence, East Bank Demerara, and subsequently charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act.

He was remanded until October 15.

Police did not state the type or quantity of narcotics allegedly involved.
