A house was partially damaged following an early morning fire today at West Watooka Hill Top in Wismar, Linden.
The Guyana Fire Service said the report was made at approximately 03:52h. Water Tender #34 and All-Terrain Vehicle #6, along with their respective crews, were dispatched to the scene under the command of Leading Fireman Reynolds.
Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke emanating from the front door of the single-storey building and immediately commenced firefighting operations.
Through their swift and coordinated efforts, firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze, preventing it from spreading to other sections of the building and minimising further damage.
However, the fire resulted in the PVC ceiling and a bedroom on the eastern side of the building, along with its contents, being destroyed.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
