Trophy Stall has officially thrown its support behind the upcoming International Masters Cricket (IMC) Over-40s ODI World Cup in Guyana, with proprietor Ramesh Sunich framing the 16-nation tournament as a celebration of veteran passion and a vital “second innings” for former top-flight and seasoned domestic cricketers.
Speaking ahead of the global event, which runs from October 17 to November 1, Sunich emphasised that sponsoring the showpiece goes far beyond providing hardware; it honours the enduring spirit of players who continue to compete purely for the love of the game.
“We go beyond merely awarding achievement; we also celebrate memories,” Sunich said. “The players who will be participating in the IMC Over-40s World Cup are not seeking an IPL or CPL contract. They are playing for the love of the game, and when they lift a trophy, they are lifting proof that the love of cricket never faded in their hearts.”
Sunich drew a direct parallel between long-format strategy and life after professional cricket, reassuring players and organisers of Trophy Stall’s long-term commitment to the movement.
“For them and others, the Over-40s World Cup is the second innings,” Sunich added. “In Test cricket, the second innings is where the game is truly won or lost, and the same is true in life. Trophy Stall is not just a sponsor for today. We believe in this tournament and this second innings, and we will continue to support the IMC Over-40s World Cup as long as the game of cricket is played.”
The tournament marks the first time Guyana will host the IMC Over-40s World Cup, bringing together 16 teams to compete across 72 one-day international matches (45 overs per side).
Zone A features hosts West Indies alongside Australia, Canada, South Africa, Colombia, Wales, Namibia, and Sri Lanka. Zone B comprises New Zealand, Scotland, the USA, England, India, Pakistan, the Rest of the World, and the Rest of the Caribbean.
Fixtures will be staged across 10 venues nationwide, including the Guyana National Stadium at Providence, the historic Georgetown Cricket Club at Bourda, Police Sports Club Ground, Joe Jagmohan Ground, Anna Regina Stadium, Enmore Community Centre, Lusignan Sports Club, Malteenoes Sports Club, Everest Cricket Club, and Albion Sports Complex.
Cricket West Indies Masters Association Chairman Raj Singh singled out the Government of Guyana’s unflinching support as a key catalyst behind bringing an event of this magnitude to local shores, providing logistical and administrative backing across every operational phase.
Adding to the tournament’s significance, Cricket West Indies Masters Association Secretary Roy Singh noted that hosting hundreds of international players, support personnel, and visiting fans will generate a substantial economic boost for the country’s hospitality and sports tourism sectors throughout the two-week cricket festival.
