Close to three years after he was charged for assaulting his ex-wife, former Region Four Chairman, Daniel Seeram was on Friday found guilty and remanded to prison.
Seeram currently serves as the National Border Patrol Director.
He was found guilty following the conclusion of a trial before Magistrate Abigail Gibbs at the Sparandaam Magistrate’s Court. November 2 has been set for sentencing.
Seeram reportedly assaulted his ex-wife, causing grievous bodily harm on September 11, 2023 at the Cummings Lodge, Georgetown apartment they shared. He was placed on $50,000 bail.
Sources previously told the News Room that on the day in question at about 03:00 hrs, Seeram returned home during which he and his wife got into a heated argument.
The argument escalated and the couple ended up in a scuffle during which they allegedly beat each other. It is also alleged that Seeram brandished his licensed firearm during the incident.
Seeram eventually left the apartment and a report was made at the Turkeyen Police station by his wife. At the time, there were visible marks of violence about her body.
