Clean sweeps witnessed at GMRSC National Championships Round 1

October 2, 2026

Several classes saw clean sweeps in Sunday’s opening round of the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) National Championships at the South Dakota Circuit.

Action from the GMRSC National Championships Round 1

Shan Seejatan swept both races in the Sports Tuner 1600cc class.
Seejatan won Race One ahead of Mohamed Saifudeen Roshandin and the Street Tuner 1500cc entry of Amjad Rahaman.
He returned to victory in Race Two with a time of 9:48.264. Roshandin finished third overall and second in the Sports Tuner class, while Azaad Hassan retired.

Matthew Vieira swept the Superbikes 600cc class ahead of Elan Rahaman and Junior DaSilva in race one, with a carbon copy of the result for Race Two.

Elwin Chase finished second in Race One and third in Race Two, while Fitzpatrick Augustus was third in Race One and second in Race Two.
Nicholas Sawh won both races in the Rookie B Class. Sawh won Race One in 9:14.523, finishing ahead of Rookie A Class driver Joshua Ramdehol and Female Class winner Malicia Lawrence.
In Race Two, Sawh again led the field with a time of 9:19.004. Ramdehol was second overall, while Phillip Paruag was third.
In the Rookie B Class, Race One saw Sawh followed by Devesh Singh and Phillip Paruag. Race Two finished with Sawh first, Paruag second and Singh third.
Ramdehol won the Rookie A Class in both races.
Meanwhile, Malicia Lawrence continued her strong showing in the Female Class, taking victory in both races.
Her Race One performance placed her third overall among the combined Rookie and Female field, while she finished fourth overall in Race Two.
Tommi Gore swept the Local Group Four 2WD class, taking both victories. Gore won Race One in 7:43.217, ahead of Andrew King and Rameez Mohamed. He returned to the top in Race Two again ahead of King, who finished second in both races, while Rameez Mohamed completed the Race One podium.
In Group Three, Anand Ramchand won Race One, finishing ahead of Danny Persaud. Ramchand also won Race Two, with Persaud retiring after five laps.
