(Kaieteur News) – A 76-year-old Chinese businessman Quan Sheng Li has reportedly confessed to killing a six-year-old boy on Wednesday at Parika, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) over a US$ 3 million debt owes by the child’s parents.
The killer reportedly owns his own business in the United States of America (USA).
However, Coa’s father and his uncle convinced him to invest with them in Guyana promising great returns on his investment.
He agreed but the deal went sour after Cao’s parents were not paying any returns on his money. The situation created tension between him and the couple.
Things quieted for a while after the couple allegedly promised that they will start paying as soon as the business “started picking-up.”
However, the situation escalated again after some time passed.
Kaieteur News understands that before travelling to Guyana the elderly man sent a woman to take care of his business relations with the couple and collect his share of money.
Reports are that he sent the woman to live with the couple and the agreement was that they would pay her some $US 2,000 per month.
Tensions, however, escalated further after the woman allegedly informed him that the couple was not keeping their end of the bargain, by paying her any money, despite making profits.
As a result, the businessman allegedly travelled himself to Guyana to take care of his business and since then there has been a back and forth between him and the couple over the money which ended tragically with the death of their six-year-old son.
Sources close to the investigation alleged that the businessman might have intentionally targeted the couple’s son as revenge.
They alleged that he (the suspect) in his confession to them, claimed that his intention was not to harm the parents but bring them “long life pain”.
It is unclear if he told police investigators this too.
Nevertheless, Kaieteur was told that Cao was the couple’s only child and they cherished him a lot because his mother cannot have any more children due to difficulties she had encountered during childbirth.
Cao’s mother Susan Lee in a Facebook post when Cao was born had shared a part of those difficulties she endured with her friends.
She wrote, “To bring him into this world, I sacrificed a great deal and lost so much. Yet, what fills me with joy is that he is growing more sensible and understanding every day. Even at such a young age, he already says he wants to help earn money to build a big house and support us in our old age. I must have done something incredible in my past life to have been blessed with such a thoughtful and loving son”. Unfortunately, Cao’s journey was cut short on this earth.
