Ziggy Webster, a 34-year-old gold miner of Mahdia, Region Eight, was fatally stabbed on Thursday, after he reportedly attacked his reputed wife at the Noitgedacht Backdam, Potaro.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Webster and his 27-year-old reputed wife, a cook of 111 Miles, Mahdia, were involved in an argument at their camp.
During the argument, Webster allegedly dealt the woman several chops to her body with a cutlass, causing her to sustain injuries. The woman subsequently allegedly inflicted a stab wound to Webster’s right buttock with a kitchen knife.
Both individuals were subsequently taken to the Mahdia District Hospital, where Webster succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.
His body was subsequently taken to the Campbelltown Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
The 27-year-old woman remains hospitalised under Police guard while receiving medical attention. Her condition is listed as stable.
Investigations are ongoing.
