(Kaieteur News) – Guyana Police Force (GPF) veteran all-rounder Trevor Benn has earned selection to the West Indies squad for the 2026 International Masters Cricket (IMC) Over-40s Cricket World Cup, which will be hosted in Guyana from October 17 to November 1.
Benn’s inclusion in the 16-member squad represents another milestone in his cricketing career, rewarding his continued contributions to the Police Officers’ team, where he remains a key figure as an all-rounder.
The West Indies team will be led by former international wicketkeeper-batsman Denesh Ramdin and features several other former West Indies players, including Ramnaresh Sarwan, Sewnarine Chattergoon, Jason Mohammed, Rayad Emrit and Devendra Bishoo.
Benn will have the opportunity to showcase his experience and represent the Caribbean at the international masters level, alongside some of the region’s most recognisable former players and experienced cricketers from around the world.
The tournament will feature 16 international teams competing in 72 matches across Guyana, with fixtures scheduled in the 45-over format at venues spanning several regions.
The West Indies have been drawn in Zone A alongside Australia, Canada, defending champions South Africa, Colombia, Wales, Namibia and Sri Lanka, setting up a competitive group-stage campaign.
The regional side will begin its World Cup journey against Australia on Saturday, October 17, at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence. The opening fixture is scheduled to begin at 09:30hrs.
The tournament will culminate with the Grand Final at the same venue on October 31, before the closing ceremony at the Police Officers’ Mess Annexe, Eve-Leary.
Benn’s selection also highlights the continued contribution of veteran cricketers to the sport, with the Over-40s competition providing an international platform for experienced players to continue representing their countries and showcasing their skills.
The Guyana Police Force has congratulated Benn on his selection, extending best wishes to the veteran all-rounder and the West Indies Over-40s team for a successful campaign at the upcoming World Cup.
