October 7, 2026

The US$604 million Palmyra–Moleson Creek four-lane road project is advancing with works 27 per cent complete. This highly anticipated project will transform the travel experience in Region Six.

During a site visit on Tuesday, Minister within the Ministry of Public Works Madanlall Ramraj explained that Lot Two is advancing significantly, while Lots One and Three need to accelerate.

The minister met contractors to assess progress and identify obstacles slowing construction.

“Lot One and Lot Three, they have not been able to conclude the financial aspect of the project. So, while they have made some progress, it has to be concluded. And as soon as that is concluded, we will see an acceleration,” he said.

Lot One is being executed by Vishwa Samudra Engineering Private Limited, spanning from Canje Bridge to John Village along the Corentyne Coast.

Lot Two spans from Bloomfield to Number 54 Village and is being upgraded by China Road and Bridge Corporation.

Lot Three continues from Number 55 Village to Moleson Creek. The entire thoroughfare will include pedestrian sidewalks as an added safety measure.

The project will see approximately 80 kilometres of road upgraded, along with the installation of bridges, culverts and new drainage systems.
