(Kaieteur News) – Guyana’s Golden Jaguars moved to within touching distance of the 2027 Concacaf Gold Cup and promotion to League A on Sunday, producing a commanding 8-1 demolition of Dominica in League’s B Group A of the Concacaf Nations League at the Estadio Centroamericano Juan Figueroa Freyre in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico.
The result completed a remarkable four-match winning run for Guyana, leaving the Golden Jaguars perfect on 12 points and firmly in control of Group A with two matches remaining.
Omari Glasgow and Deon Moore each struck twice, while captain Elliot Bonds also netted a brace as Guyana turned the encounter into a one-sided contest. Curtez Kellman and Enoch George completed the rout.
Glasgow opened the scoring in the fifth minute before Moore doubled the advantage in the 18th.
Bonds then made it 3-0 in the 24th minute, giving Guyana a commanding lead before Glasgow added his second in the 33rd to send the Golden Jaguars into halftime with a 4-0 advantage.
There was no let-up after the interval.
Kellman extended Guyana’s lead in the 53rd minute, before Moore grabbed his second four minutes later. George added the seventh in the 69th, and Bonds completed his brace in the 75th as Guyana put Dominica to the sword for the second time in four days.
The emphatic victory came just three days after Guyana defeated the same opposition 5-1 at the same venue.

Having already beaten Puerto Rico 1-0 and the Cayman Islands 2-0 earlier in the campaign, the Golden Jaguars have now swept aside every opponent in Group A.
The back-to-back victories over Dominica have also transformed Guyana’s goal difference into one of the most imposing records in the competition. The Golden Jaguars have scored 16 goals in four matches while conceding just two.
That defensive solidity, coupled with an increasingly potent attack, has Guyana sitting six points clear of second-placed Puerto Rico on 12 points, with two matches remaining.
More importantly, the equation is now remarkably simple for head coach Marco Bonofiglio and his players.
Guyana needs only one point from its remaining two fixtures to mathematically secure top spot in Group A, provided Puerto Rico remains six points behind. With both remaining matches scheduled to be played at home in November, a draw would be enough to clinch the group.
Winning the group would deliver a significant double reward.
Under Concacaf’s 2026/27 Nations League structure, the four League B group winners will earn promotion to League A and qualify directly for the 2027 Concacaf Gold Cup.
For Guyana, it would represent a return to the region’s top tier after the Golden Jaguars previously secured promotion by winning their League B group in the 2023/24 Nations League.
It would also provide another opportunity to compete at the Gold Cup, with the Nations League serving as the qualification pathway for the 2027 tournament.
The Golden Jaguars’ remaining fixtures against the Cayman Islands and Puerto Rico in November are therefore less about whether Guyana can complete the job and more about when it will formally seal what has been an outstanding campaign.
Four games, four wins, 16 goals scored and just two conceded.
Guyana is now one point away from turning an impressive Nations League campaign into another major milestone for Golden Jaguars football.
