As part of an Autumn Tour, the King and Queen will embark on a State Visit to Guyana from Thursday, October 19, to Friday, October 30. The visit will mark 60 years of bilateral relations between the United Kingdom and Guyana.

According to a statement from Buckingham Palace, the King will meet with President Dr. Irfaan Ali at State House upon arriving in Georgetown, after which they both will attend a State Reception on the lawns of State House. During that event, the 60-year strong bilateral relationship between the UK and Guyana will be celebrated.

The following day, King Charles will also attend a reception with British businesses in Guyana and other local stakeholders to hear about their partnerships and investments in the country. There, the strong economic relationship between the two countries will be highlighted.

Meanwhile, as Patron of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC), the King will join members of the Guyanese community, including veterans and representatives of the Guyanese Government, at the Georgetown Memorial, where they will lay wreaths to commemorate the shared loss and sacrifice of British, Guyanese, and Commonwealth forces.

The King will also have the opportunity to meet elected indigenous leaders from the National Toshaos Council.

Additionally, His Majesty will tour the Botanical Gardens in Georgetown, learning about the park’s key features and ongoing conservation work within the city. The King will also engage young Guyanese from environmental clubs taking part in activities focused on sustainability and conservation.

According to the palace, the visit will coincide with the second Global Biodiversity Alliance Conference, slated for October 30 and 31. His Majesty will meet scientists, Indigenous community members, and innovators to hear about their work on biodiversity, conservation, and restoration.

King Charles will also be updated on the work of the Iwokrama International Centre for Rainforest Conservation and Development, of which he has been Patron since 2000, following a visit to the local forest as Prince of Wales.

The King will wrap up his engagements in Guyana with a meeting along the Georgetown seawall with participants from the Wilton Park Commonwealth Sustainable Cities Initiative Dialogue to hear about the practical steps being taken toward sustainable urbanization ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.

While there, His Majesty will also hear about the renewed focus on mangrove restoration and the work being undertaken to replant mangroves that help protect Georgetown’s coastline and encourage wildlife to flourish.

The British Royals’ Autumn Tour also includes visits to The Bahamas and Antigua and Barbuda, where they will attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting fro
