Home Affairs Minister Oneidge Walrond says the man caught on CCTV footage assaulting a young worker at the Soesdyke Rubis gas station will be charged.
He is also to be fired from his job at the Home Affairs Ministry, Walrond said.
“He will be charged. My recommendation is that he be terminated,” Walrond said on the Starting Point podcast.
The man, who attacked the young woman in a video now shared widely on social media, has been identified as 43-year-old Andika Ferrier. He reportedly slapped the woman after she declined to help him load several heavy gas bottles onto his truck. In the video, she fell to the ground after being slapped and remained there for some time.
The victim filed a Police report, and Ferrier was arrested. He has since been released on station bail.
