The 22-year-old man who murdered Jenel Pollydore, a 26-year-old teacher, last year has been sentenced to 21 years in jail.
Sentenced to jail is 22-year-old Shaka Phillips.
He pleaded guilty to the crime and was sentenced to 21 years behind bars on Wednesday when he appeared at the High Court before Justice Prescilla Chandra-Hanif.
The time he already served in custody on remand will be deducted from the 21-year sentence.
Pollydore, a teacher from Lower Kara Kara, Mackenzie, Linden, was killed at Central Amelia’s Ward on July 19, 2025. Phillips went to a wedding reception where Pollydore was and gunned her down. He later fled the scene and went into hiding, but was later found.
