(Kaieteur News) – St Pius Primary delivered one of the biggest shocks of Round Two, handing Bartica powerhouse St John the Baptist Primary its first defeat in the Courts Optical Pee Wee Under-11 Boys Football Championship on Saturday at the Ministry of Education ground.

Goals from Nathel Ion, Simon Scott and Xavier Montage keep St Gabriel’s Primary perfect against Soesdyke Primary heading to Round III.

The defeat has opened up the qualification race, while St Pius, with a win and a draw from its two matches, strengthened its position with one game remaining in the group stage.

Tucville Primary also kept its hopes of advancing alive with a convincing 2-0 victory over Potaro Primary in Group E. Devon Bapiste opened the scoring in the seventh minute before Roger Jason doubled the advantage in the 22nd, giving Tucville another valuable three points and keeping the Georgetown side firmly in contention for one of the top-two qualifying spots.

In Group G, Redeemer Primary survived a tense encounter against Goed Fortuin Primary before Elijah Naughton produced the decisive moment in the 38th minute to secure a 1-0 victory.

F.E. Pollard Primary and St Theresa’s Primary also bounced back from opening-round setbacks with important victories.

Malik Thorington found the breakthrough for F.E. Pollard against St Aloysius Primary, scoring the only goal of the contest, while Brandon Henry struck twice to guide St Theresa’s to a comfortable 2-0 win over Ann’s Grove Primary.
