A canter yesterday smashed into Guyana Power and Light Inc (GPL) infrastructure on the Mahaica Public Road and the driver has said he will pay for the damage.

GPL said that the  incident occurred at approximately 1 pm yesterday, when a motor canter, registration number GAJ 7505, was proceeding east along the Mahaica Public Road and collided with GPL’s electrical infrastructure, causing damage to the network.

The driver, identified as  Mohan Deonarine of Kumaka, Mabaruma, Barima-Waini, was taken into custody at the Mahaica Police Station. The matter is being investigated by the Guyana Police Force, with the Mahaica Police Station handling the case, the release said.
