(Kaieteur News) – Dem Boys Seh the time has come for somebody to take a long, hard look at the Guyana Amazon Warriors—not the usual look where everybody does smile, say “we good,” collect dem plane ticket and head home.
We talking serious evaluation. Because after the CPL playoffs in Barbados, the Warriors left plenty Guyanese wondering whether the team had gone to play cricket or participate in a Caribbean tourism promotion. The batsmen looked like they had forgotten which end of the bat does the hitting. Some bowlers appeared to be searching for the wicket like a man searching for his phone after putting it in his own pocket. And when the pressure came, the Warriors seemed to have left the pressure cooker back in Providence.
But Dem Boys Seh, leh we be fair. A number of these players had already gone through the Global Super League representing Guyana before diving straight into the CPL grind. By the time the CPL was winding down, some legs may have been saying, “Boss, enough now,” while the brain was replying, “I agree, but management got another match.”
That is a lot of cricket. Even a washing machine does spin cycle and then get a chance to cool down.
So the fatigue question deserves serious examination. Was the squad overworked? Was there enough rotation?? Did we have sufficient depth? And did we continue using players because of what they used to do, rather than what they were doing now?
That last question is where Dem Boys Seh somebody might start sweating.
Because Guyana cannot keep selecting a CPL team like it is a family wedding. There must now be a proper assessment of whether it is time to blood a new team for future CPL editions. The team needs to identify those who still has the mileage, who needs rest, and who the youngsters are that can be given genuine opportunities. Otherwise, every year we going through the same ritual: hope, hype, heartbreak—and then somebody announce that next year will be different.
Dem Boys Seh even the parrot done memorise that speech. The Warriors need a mirror, not another motivational poster. Look at the players. Look at the workload. Look at the tactics. Look at the bench.
And if the reflection looking back is telling us that Guyana needs fresh legs, listen to the mirror. Because nostalgia can win arguments at rum shop.
It cannot win CPL trophies.
Talk half. Leff half.
